Talk through your symptoms and reports. You leave knowing what the findings mean and what, if anything, comes next.
Bring your reports; the doctor will tell you which tests are genuinely needed and which are not. Where a test is done and what it costs is confirmed by phone.

| ALT (SGPT) | Rises when liver cells are irritated or injured. A pointer, not a diagnosis. |
| AST (SGOT) | Similar to ALT, but muscle and heart can raise it too. |
| Bilirubin | The yellow pigment behind jaundice. High levels mean the cause needs finding. |
| Albumin | A protein the liver makes. Low values can reflect long-term liver trouble, among other causes. |
| ALP, GGT | Often linked to the bile ducts. Read alongside the others. |
| PT / INR | How fast your blood clots. The liver makes the clotting factors. |
| Ultrasound | A picture of the liver’s size, texture and fat. Painless, quick, widely available. |
| FibroScan | Measures stiffness (scarring) and fat without a needle. Numbers need a clinician to interpret. |
