Chronic hepatitis B can often be controlled with antiviral treatment, but treatment generally does not cure it. Hepatitis C can be cured in more than 95% of people treated with direct-acting antivirals, according to WHO; the regimen and duration depend on the person. A clinician will advise which confirmatory tests and follow-up are needed. Hepatitis B vaccination helps prevent infection; there is no vaccine for hepatitis C.
