A FibroScan report may show two main numbers. Liver stiffness, measured in kPa, can help estimate the likelihood of scarring. CAP, measured in dB/m, can help estimate fat in the liver.
Neither number is a diagnosis by itself. Results can be affected by the condition being tested and how the scan was performed. A cut-off used for one disease may not fit another.
Take the report to the clinician who ordered it. Ask what the result means for you, whether another test is needed and when follow-up should happen.
